Slicers & 3D Printer Hosts. This section lists all software required to prepare and execute a 3D print. The Print Preparation column indicates whether the software allows you to prepare your 3D model for printing by such actions as scaling, rotating and placing the model on the print bed.Slicing generates the G-code necessary to feed into your 3D printer.

Apple's OS X is a great platform for 3D printing on a RepRap. In this video I introduce the main tools you will need to process STL files and 3D print in OS X, along with extra tools for repairing STL files and examining gcode. OS X version 10.8.2 is shown in this video, on a Mac Mini.

This is the first video in a series. Later videos will cover each program in more detail, including how to install and set up each program.
