I have created a VM with Windows Server 2012, but I cannot get network connection to the VM so I can get to the internet. I want to create a Windows 2012 + SQL 2012 + SQL 2013 stand-alone server and Domain Controller. It appears I also need to create 2 network connections: one for the internet connectivity and the second for the DNS loop back to itself and not the company network. I cannot seem to configure my network adapter correctly on my VM to get the connection. Can anyone suggest some fixes? I am trying to use NAT with an adapter type: PCnet-FAST III however, I have also tried NAT with an adapter type: Intel Pro 1000 MT Desktop Thanks in advance.

Install Virtual box Step:01 Create Virtual Machine on Mac. To create virtual machine on Mac, open the VirtualBox first, then tap on the “New“.Once you clicked on “New”, a small window will.

This is really no different using physical or virtual machines and/or networks. You cannot do this on a VirtualBox NAT connection. I would run the domain on an internal virtual network. Get the domain configured and working before you worry about Internet connection. When you want to connect to the Internet, configure a vm with two network cards to operate as a router between the domain network and your physical network.

(Do not try to run your DC as a router!) The private NIC of the router will be in the domain (virtual internal) network and the public NIC of the router bridged to the physical network through a physical NIC of the host. You will probably need to modify your local DNS to forward to a public DNS service to resolve foreign URLs for the you domain machines.

Wowzers, BillG, you hit the nail on the head. I am not a networking guy. I have now created 2 VMs with one being the domain controller and the other will be a SharePoint App Server. I am trying now to connect the two together. Here is my setup: Domain Controller VM: Computer Name: VMDC2012 Domain: SP2013 [dot com] Firewall: Off Remote mgmt.: Enabled Remote desktop: Enabled NIC Teaming: Disabled Network 1: Host-Only Adapter IP 192.168.0.40 Default Gateway: 192.168.0.1 Preferred DNS: 192.168.0.40 Network 2: NAT Obtain IP automatically Preferred DNS: 192.168.0.40 Alternate DNS: 4.2.2.4 SharePoint VM: Network 1: Host-Only Adapter Obtain automatically Preferred DNS: 127.0.0.1 Alternate DNS: 4.2.2.4 Can you offer any suggestions to help fix my current configuration? When I try to connect my SharePoint VM to my domain VM I am using Domain: VMDC2012 [dot] SP2013 [dot com] I get an error that the domain cannot be found. (grumble) Thanks, Alex Posts: 7 Joined: 5.

Do I also need to set my VM IE LAN settings to use a proxy? I have actually done both, with and without a proxy and not gotten a connection. When inside my VM I can see that our corporate network address shows in the connections, however, it also states there is 'no internet connection'. I get this with both 'internal network' and 'bridged network', but when I set it to 'host-only' or 'NAT' I don't see it at all. I get a red X on my network icon instead of a yellow triangle.

I wish I was more experienced with networking Since I cannot get network connectivity I cannot do a Windows update for my OS, etc. Posts: 7 Joined: 5.
