Because i can't find them when searching photos with iPhoto search field, and i tried to search them with finder inside the Masters iPhoto Library folder but searching doesn't work at all there. Question 3) why i cannot search inside Masters folder in iPhoto Library with finder? Questions 2 and 3 -- the Mac OS finder does not search inside 'packages,' which is a special folder inside which Apple discourages users from looking into and making changes.

IPhoto Library is an example of such a 'package.' However other utilities can look inside packages.

I used Easyfind and it locates files inside the Masters folder immediately. FInd Any File probably works as well. I can't tell from the information you provided about those other two files p113438 and p19365. They could be other files in the photo database, there are original jpg files, modified files, thumbnails and so forth. I am worried that moving, deleting and replacing files inside your iPhoto Library will make things more difficult later on.

Remove the Smartware on a PC, then make the drive ready for your mac. I have a Core2duo running Windows XP. Passport software for mac. When people do that, their iPhoto Libraries usually don't work properly in the future. If I were in your shoes, I would do the following, which is a brute force recovery procedure that I would only recommend as a last resort (I think you are at that point): (1) Export from iPhoto all 'good' photos into a new folder for 'good' photos. (2) Identify the 'bad' jogs you can find and use whatever tools you have (you seem to have a few) to find/fix versions of those 'bad' ones so you have 'good' ones to replace each 'bad' one. Put each 'good' one inside that folder set aside for 'good' photos. (3) This may take a lot of manual labor. I don't see any other way, however. If you can do ~ 3 files per minute, and you have 1400 files to fix, it will take about 500 minutes, or about 9 hours.

For priceless photos, it's worth it, I think. One long Saturday afternoon and you'll be back in business. (4) When all done, you will have a folder with 'good' photos, hopefully no corrupt ones. Open iPhoto, create a new iPhoto Library that is empty, and then import all the good photos from that good jpg folder into the brand new iPhoto Library, using the 'Import' command from inside iPhoto. Back this new Library up regularly and never directly move/modify files from inside the Library, just work with the files using iPhoto commands.

By the way, this process may lose the organizational framework in your previous Library, but it will have all your good jpg photos and you can sort them by date and start creating new 'events' to organize them again. (5) It is not a bad practice to check your disk(s) every few months with Disk Utility and/or Disk Warrior (I recommend always checking after a system freeze, forced shutdown, power failure or similar interruption), but avoid taking any 'maintenance' steps (like defragmentation) unless there is some specific problem found that requires fixing. You need to provide details - not just an abstract problem why do you think you have damaged JPEGs? How did they get damaged? What version of iPhoto and of the OS?

If you truly have damaged JPEGS then you have a problem that probably can not be fixed - and since iPhoto generally will not import damaged images you ned to stop doing what every is being done to damage images - any changes of any sort to the contents of the iPhoto library cause major problems - often far beyond just damages images LN.
