On the very first attempt to use it the picture flickered a bit but was otherwise OK. When the class ends I walk over to my second lecture and plug in my computer and the adapter and NOTHING happens. I try again and the screen on my mac goes dark then nothing. I have all my students walk back over to the last calssroom and the thing still doesn't work. My first lecture of the year was a real stinker as a result. Very disappointed.

I spent the extra $20 because I thought I was buying quality. Go buy a generic knockoff.

At least when it breaks you only spent $6 More (Read full review) • Written by Marco A from Chicago • Jan 4, 2016 69 of 84 people found this useful. We have bought dozens over the past 6 years for our schools and have also bought some from off brand sites.

These brand names will all work initially but often give out at the same rate as the off brand dongles (3-6 months). Trying another dongle from a (big online) brand name competitor that has high reviews so fingers crossed. As we don't require going into high resolution projector displays XGA/WXGA is the most common, or lower resolution so the off brand ones are just as good (aka break as often) as the name brand dongle. If going into a higher resolution display, this my be the best choice. More (Read full review) • Written by AtlNCS A from Atlanta • Dec 2, 2015 40 of 47 people found this useful.

It would disappear if I twisted and turned the cord and got the device to stay put just so. Presumably after nearly ten years of usage there was some fraying within the cable.

I’d say I got my money’s worth. Bought a new one today and it works as advertised. No complaints. More (Read full review) • Written by Thomas C from West Springfield • Dec 6, 2018. I normally use them to connect two laptops to flat TVs or a projector at home, but I regularly take either of these connectors on presentations to connect a laptop to projectors of different brands.

I have never had any problems. More (Read full review) • Written by Carlos O from Bakersfield • Jun 13, 2018. I wouldn't recommend this at all! More (Read full review) • Written by Jamie B from Thornton • May 21, 2018 4 of 4 people found this useful.

All 2011 and later MacBook Pro's have Thunderbolt and all 2011 and later MacBook Air's have thunderbolt. If you have Thunderbolt, you can daisy chain you monitors together, like mentioned in the other answer. The Apple Thunderbolt Display is good for this, although a bit pricy ($999).
