I was getting fed up with searching for the one chrome tab with Google Music open or having to have the browser open just to play music. So I made a stand alone application for Google Play Music. It also has media control support so play / pause and volumes controls work via keyboard presses (If your keyboard has those keys). The whole thing is Open Source, if you are interested you can check out the releases section of my GitHub UPDATE 1 Fixed the issue that caused you to log in every time you opened it Added previous / next track media control support Added media control buttons in the taskbar preview thumbnail UPDATE 2 Anyone experiencing the bug which caused the program to crash after typing anything should retry with version 1.1.1 the bug has been fixed:) UPDATE 3 Anyone wanting to chat about this project or get support • • • • •. This sucks:( I really like having my music scrobbled for later reference etc, so I won't be using your program till this is fixed.

As it stands, I literally connect my phone to speakers when working with my laptop so I can use the android app instead of a chrome tab. I wish last.fm weren't such party poopers. Would you care on explaining in ELI5 terms why their issue affects new software accessing their database and not existing ones like android scrobbling apps, chrome extensions etc? Whatever happens, thanks for your efforts in creating this! Best attempt at ELI5. So if you are an avid user of last.fm you will have noticed that their website changed a few months back. As part of that change the service that allowed users to sign up for developer accounts broke.

You can see the 'currently unavailible' bit here Other parts of last.fm's site are also broken and it appears their development team is prioritising fixing core site issues rather than developer sign up. As soon as I physically can, I'll work on this intergration (you're not the only one that wants it). Not bad:) OK, I guess I'll wait a bit. In other news, I might be having the same problem the other guy mentioned in the newer thread you made about the player. Windows 10 and the program won't open. I haven't checked everything yet (for example I'm uploading songs on a chrome GPM tab and my first instinct was that your program won't run with a GPM tab open on chrome at the same time), and I don't have time to run through your suggested troubleshooting, so take this info for what it is.

MacMedia

Not much, actually. Trying this out! First login made two windows (one with the login, and the other with the player).

Logged in again and everything was fine. Play/pause/volume controls work great! Would love next/previous song implementation down the line! Bootcamp amp windows for your mac os x.

Overall: Great desktop player, dead simple, and sound doesn't get lowered when in a skype call (was an issue with outcoldplayer/gmusic when that was still around). Thank you for your contribution to the community and addressing the need for this desktop player.

If you need to play WMV or WMA files on your Mac, then Flip4Mac is a simple and effective solution. Softonic was given and now the final version of 3.0 is here. Flip4Mac has been completely rewritten to meet the new requirements in OS X 10.7 and 10.8.
